Workshop 4 will deal with population management and monitoring methodologies for the in situ genetic conservation of crop wild relatives. There will be presentations and discussions on population management, demographic and genetic monitoring, and the different aspects involved in developing appropriate methodologies for in situ conservation. In summary the main objectives of the workshop are to: Identify the precise milestones that are sought in the in situ genetic conservation of CWRs. Define the minimum baseline information required for the diagnosis of CWR populations and the development of management plans. Develop population management methodologies appropriate for the in situ genetic conservation of crop wild relatives. Develop population monitoring methodologies appropriate for the in situ genetic conservation of crop wild relatives. On Saturday, April 24, there will be a Red List Training Workshop to provide training in the application of IUCN Red List Criteria to crop wild relatives. |
