About the PGR Forum Crop Wild Relative Information System

The PGR Forum Crop Wild Relative Information System (CWRIS) is one of the products of the European Crop Wild Relative Diversity Assessment and Conservation Forum (PGR Forum), funded by the European Community Fifth Framework Programme for Energy, Environment and Sustainable Development.

The system contains:

  • A searchable catalogue of crop wild relatives of Europe and the Mediterranean region

  • An information management model for crop wild relative data, illustrated with a number of case studies, and with an accompanying XML schema

The content of CWRIS is the result of collaborative efforts by all participants in the PGR Forum project. A full list of names of PGR Forum participants can be found on the project web site.

The system was developed at the University of Birmingham by J.D. Moore and S.P. Kell on behalf of the PGR Forum project.

CWRIS is hosted by the University of Birmingham, which is the coordinating institute of the PGR Forum project. CWRIS will be hosted by IPGRI on behalf of the ECP/GR Secretariat at the end of the PGR Forum project to ensure its sustainability.
